Our Mission: The Waterloo Center for the Arts purpose is to initiate and further awareness, appreciation and support of the arts by a diverse audience
The Waterloo Center for the Arts is a municipal non-profit institution dedicated to fostering community awareness and appreciation of the arts by acquiring, preserving, exhibiting, and interpreting significant works of art. Operates under the auspices of the Waterloo Cultural and Arts Commission, the Center and its programs reflect the City's commitment to and support of arts and culture.
The Center for the Arts offers a wide range of programs, exhibits, and activities to the community.
- A permanent Collection featuring Midwest Art, American Decorative Arts, and the largest public collection of Haitian Art in the United States
- Changing art exhibitions in Riverside Galleries, Loft Gallery, Reddington/Reuling Galleries, Rotary/Lichty Galleries and West Gallery
- Classes & workshops for families and individuals of all ages
- An interactive exhibit and youth resource room in the Junior Art Gallery
- A multi-media library and artists' resource materials
- Multi-cultural exhibits and cultural enrichment programs
- Summer youth music programs
- Lectures, symposia, films, and performances
- Cultural Explorations and Cultural Literacy tour programs serving 14,000 K-12 students yearly
- Programs for emotionally and physically challenged youth and adults
- Northeast Iowa Print Club programs
- An annual all-school art exhibit
- Photography, ceramics, painting and jewelry studios
- A Gift Store featuring over 200 Midwest artist
- Meeting rooms for receptions and special events
