Color with Woodie Long

Woodie Long (1942-2009) was a prolific American folk artist who lived most of his life near the Florida/Alabama border. Many of his paintings document stories from his childhood. Long loved to meet other artists, trade stories, and collaborate with them.

Woodie and his wife Dot established a gallery in Santa Rosa Beach, FL. When children visited the gallery, Woodie would welcome them by doing crayon drawings with them at a special table.

A large selection of Woodie Long’s art, much of it created collaboratively with many of the most important American folk artists of the time, is part of the Waterloo Center for the Arts permanent collection.

We’re excited to share a few pieces of Woodie’s art in a color friendly format. What recreations will you make?
