CHRISTOPHER THE CONQUERED and his piano have traveled North America and Europe for over 10 years, sharing his self-proclaimed “Interstellar Soul” with anyone who will listen.
His 2016 album I’m Giving Up On Rock & Roll has received over 500,000 listens online and has garnered positive reviews, with the songwriter Ryan Adams proclaiming it “crazy & incredible” and Alternative Press labeling it a “raw, emotional” record. ABC News declares his music “compelling, interesting, and funny”.
Christopher developed his songwriting while growing up in Iowa, but he now calls Colorado home. He has spent time on stage supporting a wide array of magnificent artists, including Leon Russell, Andrew Bird, Sturgill Simpson, The Mountain Goats, Edward Sharpe & The Magnetic Zeros, and Julien Baker.
Patrick Tape Fleming of GLOOM BALLOON is an Iowa native and notable songwriter. A tenured traveler of the American interstate system who once played nearly 300 shows in a year, Fleming set out on his latest record, Gloom Balloon’s “Drying the Eyes of the Goddess of Gloom Underneath the Stars and the Moon,” to pen a timeless letter of life and love to his young son.
Composed alongside bandmate Christopher Ford and with a production assist from Logan Christian at Iowa’s Midday Studios, “Drying the Eyes” is a release, for Fleming, two years in the making. He wrote a majority of the music across a creative spurt in 2015, spending the following months composing and tracking string, horn, synthesizer and vocal arrangements. Some numbers are created using as many as 140 instrument and vocal tracks. (Source: Des Moines Register)
